The advantage of custom plastic injection molding is the ability to scale production to mass quantities. The initial upfront costs of designing & creating the molds are offset by the large quantities that are produced, thus lowering the price per unit during injection molded manufacturing process. The price drops dramatically as more parts are produced. Another advantage to injection molding is that there are low scrap rates relative to traditional manufacturing processes like CNC machining which cut away substantial amount of original material in a block or sheet.
